5 D 4 N BUDHIST TOUR.

Day – 01.

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you will be met and welcomed by Our Representative. (Please note that you should look for a signage with your name once you come out of Arrival Terminal Hall after collecting the baggage)

Transfer to the hotel on a private air-conditioned vehicle. Our Representative will escort the group to the Hotel and help with check in process.

Afternoon, sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa

Pashupatinath Temple

Pashupatinath Temple one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world, lies 5 km east of the city center. The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga, or phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva. Chronicles indicate the temple’s existence prior to 400 AD. Devotees can he seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati River flowing beside the temple. Cremation of the dead body Hindus/Buddhist takes place at the bank of the same river.

Bouddhanath (Little Tibet)

Bouddhanath is among the largest stupas in South Asia, and it has become the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. The white mound looms thirty-six meters overhead. The stupa is located on the ancient trade route to Tibet, and Tibetan merchants rested and offered prayers here for many centuries. When refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many of them decided to live around Bouddhanath. They established many gompas, and the “Little Tibet” of Nepal was born. Overnight at the hotel

Drive to Pokhara

Pokhara Valley

Pokhara valley is one of the most picturesque spot of Nepal. The beauty of Pokhara is enhanced by its lovely lakes, which have their source in the glacial region of the Annapurna range of the Himalayas. Situated 200 km west of Kathmandu at an altitude of 827 meter from the sea-level, for the mountain viewers Pokhara offers a magnificent view of Dhaulagiri, Machapuchre (Fishtail), five peaks of Annapurna and others. Pokhara is the only place in the world to provide such a dramatic views in a sub-tropical setting. Machapuchre, for example, is only 28 km from Phewa Lake and not a single mountain range intervenes between the two.

Phewa Lake

Phewa Lake, the second largest lake in the country, is the center of all attraction in Pokhara. It is the largest and most enchanting of the three lakes that add to the resplendence of Pokhara. Here, one can sail or row a hired boat to the island temple in its middle. The eastern shore, popularly known as lakeside or Baidam, is the favorite home base for travellers and is where most of the hotels, restaurants and handicraft shops are located.

Barahi Temple

The Barahi temple is the most important monument in Pokhara, Built almost in the center of Phewa Lake, this two-storied pagoda is dedicated to the boar manifestation of Ajima, the protectress deity representing the female force Shakti. Devotees can be seen, especially on Saturdays, carrying male animals and fowl across the lake to be sacrificed to the deity.

Afternoon, sightseeing tour of Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square boasts of many famous sites and unique architecture. Krishna Mandir in this Square was built to honor an incarnation of Vishnu. One of the best examples of stone architecture in the world, scenes from Mahabharat, Asia’s greatest mythological war are carved on the temple’s walls.

Home to traditional artists and sculptors, one can find more temples dedicated to Ganesh (the elephant-headed god), Shiva, Narsingha, Taleju, and others are located at Patan Durbar Square.

Kathmandu Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square, with its old temples and palaces, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of the people. Here, the kings of Nepal were crowned and solemnized. Interesting things for visitors to see are Taleju temple, gigantic figure of Kalbhairav (the god of destruction), Basantapur Durbar, and Temple of Kumari (living goddess)

Morning visit Dakshinkali Temple

Dakshinkali

The temple of Dakshinkali is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali and is one of the most popular places of worship in Kathmandu, located 22 km from the city center on the Southern of the Valley past Pharping village, the shrine is especially crowded on Tuesdays and Saturdays when animal sacrifices are offered to the deity. On the way back, stop at Chobhar gorge. The narrow gash in the hills was made by Lord Manjushree to drain out the lake which once covered the Valley. Other interesting sites in this area are temple Tantric Goddess Bajrayogini and a meditation cave of the Buddhist teacher “Guru Rimpoche” (Padmasambhava).

Afternoon visit Bungmati and Khokana

Bungmati and Khokana

About 6 km South of Patan lies the two medieval village of Bungmati and Khokana.

Bungmati, an ancient village which has hundreds of mater wood carver and sculptors, has remained untouched by rapid change of urban and globalizes lifestyle. People still enjoy rural life- from the past several centuries. Similarly, Khokana which is another vernacular village is famous for its mustard-oil seed industrial heritage.
